A man can inherit a house and money from his parents, but only the LORD can give him a sensible wife. Prov. 19:14

Merchants & Pearls
Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking godly pearls: who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and brought it (Matt. 13:45-46).
MERCHANTS
A Merchant is not a petty trader, no he is a businessman of worth and great substance having cross-continental business interests. As a result of his vast exposure, he recognizes and appreciates quality. There are few things to note about the merchant from the above quoted scripture.

He is a man of standards.
He is not the ‘anything goes’ kind of man rather he a man of specifics.

The merchant is a man of vision.
He knows precisely what he is seeking – goodly, highest grade pearls.
He is a man of focus. He is not dabbling into too many things – a jack of all trade and master of none. No, this man is specifically a pearl merchant. By reason of his focus he has developed in-depth knowledge about pearls, which enables him to recognize value.
He is a man of purpose and unquestionable commitment.
He is not distracted by other gems because he knows what knows what he wants. He is a purpose-directed man until he finds what he is looking for; he does not pitch his tent anywhere else. He was out looking for goodly, choice pearls but when he found one of great price, he did not hold back, he put in his all to acquire it. This is not a half measure man, he is a man of zeal, passion and absolute commitment to purpose.
This man is a man of great courage and boldness.
Having found his heart’s longing, he sold everything he possessed to acquire it. He took a very big risk in doing that but like Jesus, he was able to look ahead into the future to the time when his investment would pay off.

THE “MERCHANT” IN YOU
As a single Christian brother, you must be a man of standards; your life must be edged in by boundaries. The ‘anything goes’ kind of attitude lowers your self-standard as God’s merchant. You must have worth and value for yourself and for the female species. A wise man said whatever you do not respect you automatically cannot attract.
It is equally imperative that you have an idea of the kind of ‘Pearl’ you are looking for. The ‘Pearl’ could be a wife, a career, etc. Have vision, know exactly what you want and go all out for it. Maintain focus and purposefully pursue your dream goal. Give it all the commitment it requires and take bold steps to actualize it. Focus will sharpen your sensitivity such that you will know when your search has come to end. Remember, you are a merchant, a single Christian brother of worth, do not succumb to cheap living for water will always find its own level, it is value for value and worth for worth.
You are Priceless!
